Firstly let me say a very warm and heartfelt CONGRATULATIONS on your engagement, my name is Kirsty and I'm a celebrant with the Independent Humanist Ceremonies.
I thought I would let you know a bit about me first and how it came about that I got to do one of the best jobs in the world?
I'm a fully trained beauty therapist, hairdresser and make up artist and have been working within the industry of beauty for over ten years now (which in all honesty is a little longer than I care to think). To that end I have been within the wedding industry for over 7 of those year, doing hair and makeup on bridal parties and loving my job (it's often more like a passion and great fun for me).
I worked for MAC cosmetics for three of these years within Glasgow House of Frasers and again loved my job, however in 2012 my dad (who is also a celebrant) asked myself and my sisters if any of us fancied following in his footsteps.
I should explain that I have always been a very keen fundraiser and often conduct speeches on my chosen charities, so I'm used to standing in front of people and giving speeches - and if you ever meet me you'll know pretty soon how much I love to talk.
So I said - why not? Let me come along and watch some weddings - and that's exactly what I did before I began my training with Mr Norrie Flowers. Months were spent shadowing Norrie as he visited couples, conducted weddings and guided me through my duties as a celebrant.
I was awarded my licence by the registrar of Scotland in February 2012, and haven't looked back since,
Being able to meet couples and hear their unique love story before writing their script is a dream occupation. Every single couple have a exceptional story, personal to them, personal to their family and friends and if I can get some laughs during their ceremony and some tears it shows that they have touched everyone's hearts.
